Loisel Named to Third-Team All-BIG EAST

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers freshman infielder Brittany Loisel (Gilbert, AZ) was named to the 2006 All-BIG EAST Conference Third Team, the league announced.
Loisel started all 52 games this season at second base, while also hitting out of the leadoff spot. Named the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year at the team's annual awards banquet, she led the Scarlet Knights in several statistical categories, including batting average (.308), hits (52) and runs scored (24). Loisel also ranked second in on-base percentage (.368), doubles (6) and walks (15).
One of RU's most consistent hitters, Loisel ended the season tied for the team-lead in multiple-hit games with 13, in addition to owning the team-low in strikeouts with just eight (169 at-bats).
The Scarlet Knights will return 16 letterwinners to a squad that completed the 2006 campaign with a 15-37 overall record and 5-17 mark in BIG EAST Conference play.
