PISCATAWAY, NJ - Former Rutgers rowers Sam Stitt (McLean, VA) and Jake Goodman (Corrales, NM) will compete in the 2006 FISA World Rowing Championships. The event will be held in Eton, Great Britain, Aug. 20-27.
Stitt, who graduated from Rutgers in 2004, will compete in the priority men's sculling event, the quad sculls. He is a two-time National Team member, and at the 2005 FISA World Championships he finished 10th in the double sculls. Stitt has also had success at the national level, winning the double sculls at the 2005 National Selection Regatta.
Goodman, a 2005 Rutgers graduate, will take part in the lightweight men's eight. Like Stitt, he is a two-time National Team member. At last year's Under-23 World Championship, he competed in the light men's four, taking eighth place. At the 2004 Oxford-Cambridge Boat race, he was a part of the winning team in the lightweight eight division.
