PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers men's lacrosse program will compete in a pair of day-long tournaments this fall.
The Scarlet Knights will participate in the ninth annual Price-Modern "Lacrosse for Leukemia" Invitational Sept. 30 in Brooklandville, MD, where they will play two games. The team will face UMBC at 12:50 p.m. followed by a 2:30 p.m. contest against Johns Hopkins.
The Invitational, held on the campus of St. Paul's Schools, is an opportunity for lacrosse fans to see 'the best' in college lacrosse and at the same time, raise money to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Rutgers will also take part in a fall tournament on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Rockville Centre, NY. The Scarlet Knights will face Hofstra, Springfield, and Towson at the day-long event, held from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The 2007 Rutgers men's lacrosse team, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Jim Stagnitta, will return its top three scorers from the 2006 campaign and will be infused by a talented 12-man recruiting class. Playing one of the nation's toughest schedules, the 2006 Scarlet Knights fashioned a 5-9 mark with a lineup that featured six freshmen and dropped four one-goal games.
