Batiuk Named to Preseason Player of the Year Watch

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior midfielder Katie Batiuk (Jackson, N.J.) has been named to the Tewaarton Trophy Watch List it was announced on Sunday. The award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States.
Players selected are considered early season favorites of 'players to watch' as the 2007 lacrosse season begins. The award is voted upon by coaches and narrowed as the season progresses. Batiuk was one of eight additions on Sunday and currently one of the 42 nominees overall.
Batiuk, an All-Region first team honoree and a first team All-BIG EAST selection a year ago, leads the team this spring with 18 goals.
The Tewaaraton Award Foundation, in conjunction with the University Club of Washington, D.C., formally established the "Tewaaraton Trophy" on August 29, 2000.
The Scarlet Knights (6-2) step out of conference play to entertain Old Dominion on Monday, March 26, 2007 at RU Turf Field. The Lady Monarchs are 3-1 on the season.
