Batiuk Earns BIG EAST Weekly Lacrosse Honors

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior midfielder Katie Batiuk (Jackson, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Offensive of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Batiuk registered nine points in a 2-0 week for the Scarlet Knights. The senior scored a season-best five goals in an 11-10 conference triumph over Connecticut on April 7. It marked the second straight season, Batiuk tallied five goals versus the Huskies.  

In an 11-5 win over Saint Joseph's on April 3, Batiuk had three goals and an assist. She paces the team in points (36) and goals (31).

Freshman Emily Penn (Medford, N.J.) was selected to the weekly honor roll, helping anchor a RU defense which allowed just 7.5 goals in two games last week. The first-year player had seven ground balls on the week.

The Scarlet Knights (10-2) entertain Manhattan College on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Yurcak Field.
