Rutgers Falls at Syracuse in BIG EAST Lacrosse Action

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Rutgers sophomore Nina Frankoski (Maplewood, N.J.) scored four goals but it was not enough as No. 18 Rutgers dropped a 21-12 decision to No. 12 Syracuse on Friday evening.
Sophomore Katie Lawrence (Pylesville, Md.) registered three goals for Rutgers (11-3, 3-2 BIG EAST) which saw its five game win-streak come to a close. For the Orange, who improved 8-4, 3-1 in league play, Katie Rowen tallied seven goals.
SU jumped out to a 7-0 advantage in the first 22 minutes of action with six differenct players accounting for a score. Rutgers responded with a pair of goals from Jamie Farewell and Anne Marchitello to pull to 7-2 with 4:14 left in the first period.
The Orange recorded seven goals in a 2:21 span to take a 14-2 lead. RU added a score by Farewell just prior to the halftime horn to give SU a 14-3 lead at the break.
Rutgers opened the second stanza strong, scoring the first four goals - three from Lawrence - to cut SU's lead to seven. Syracuse quickly responded, scoring six of the next eight goals en route to the victory.
