PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers goalie Erika Page (Moorestown, N.J.) was named the womenslacrosse.com Rookie the Week after No. 17 Rutgers (12-4, 3-2) defeated No. 6/8 Notre Dame, 8-7, on April 21. With the win, the Scarlet Knights secured the No. 3 seed in upcoming BIG EAST tournament, which begins on Friday, April 27, in Syracuse, N.Y.
Page played a key role in RU's win over the Irish, holding Notre Dame to just three second-half goals, including a scoreless stretch over the final eight minutes of the game. The freshman finished the game with a career-best 12 saves and allowed just seven total goals. Earlier this week, she also earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors, the first of her career. Page has now started the previous four contests for the Scarlet Knights and seen in action in 13 of 15 games this season. In those fifteen games, Page has made 80 saves and has a goals-against-average of 9.61.
The Scarlet Knights will face No. 2 seed Syracuse in the second semifinal game on Friday at the Carrier Dome. The Orange defeated RU earlier this season by a score of 21-12 on April 13. Rutgers, in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time in the team's history, finished the regular season with 12 wins, tied for third-most wins in a single season by a Rutgers women's lacrosse team.
