PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior Brittany Loisel (Gilbert, Ariz.) will appear in the Fall 2008 issue of NCAA Champion magazine available online at www.ncaachampionmagazine.org.
Loisel, a three-year starter at second base on the Rutgers softball team, was featured in a piece discussing the continued forward progression of female athletes in collegiate sports and their movement toward parity with their male counterparts.
In addition to her work with the Rutgers Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Loisel also has served as a member of the National SAAC for the past year. The committee is made up of student-athletes from throughout the country to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives at NCAA member institutions.
Loisel not only represents Rutgers University but also the BIG EAST Conference on the National SAAC.
Champion magazine strives to illuminate its readers about the most important issues facing intercollegiate athletics while also promoting the thousands of quality people who support college sports each day. Each issue of Champion recaps NCAA news from the previous three months, but the magazine offers much more than that.
With an elevated emphasis on quality graphic design and outstanding photography, Champion focuses on the relevant NCAA issues and top people within the organization. Each issue leads off with a cover portrait featuring the most important person in college sports: the student-athlete. The magazine's mission is to illustrate how good people do great things to support intercollegiate athletics.
The Rutgers softball team, under the direction of head coach Jay Nelson, will begin its 2009 schedule on Feb. 20, at the Mississippi State Tournament.
