PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers sophomore Billy Olin (Horseheads, N.Y.) and freshman Kory Kelly (Princeton, N.J.) were each honored by the ECAC as the league announced its weekly awards Monday. Olin was named the ECAC's Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while Kelly was tabbed as the Co-Rookie of the Week.
Olin recorded 17 saves while facing 33 shots in a 13-4 victory over UMBC Sunday afternoon. The sophomore allowed only four goals and tied for the team lead with four groundballs. Olin's 17 saves was one shy of his career-high.
Kelly, who was competing in his first collegiate game, tied for the team lead with three goals on seven shots. Five of his seven shots were on goal and he was tied for second on the squad with one caused turnover.
Olin shared Defensive Player of the Week honors with Doc Schneider of UMass, while Kelly shared the Rookie of the Week award with Doug Kuring of Fairfield.
The Scarlet Knights, ranked No. 19 in the latest USILA poll, will be back in action on Saturday as they host No. 12 Delaware in a non-conference game at the RU Turf Field. The top-20 battle is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
