Rutgers Softball Doubleheader At Monmouth Changed to Single Game

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Rutgers softball team (17-24) will conclude its four-opponent road trip with a 4:30 p.m. single game at Monmouth (12-19-1) on Wednesday, April 16.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off a split at Notre Dame this past Monday. The Irish won game one 1-0, however, RU bounced back with a come-from-behind 5-4 victory in the second game. Junior Kim Hodges (Houston, Texas) played a major part in the win as she drove in four runs and scored the game-winning fifth run.
Rutgers is led by freshman Mandy Craig (Manassas, Va.) who is batting .303 with 20 RBI. Also hitting .300 for the season is senior Mallory Miller (Anaheim, Calif.), while junior Kate Valiante (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) paces the squad with 25 runs batted in.
Monmouth is currently on a four-game slid after losing a pair of conference doubleheaders against Wagner and LIU. The Hawks are led by Nicole Alvarez who is hitting .441 on the year with 18 RBI, followed by Jessica Nicola (.373, 22 RBI) and Emily Delong (.308, 17 RBI).
The Scarlet Knights will return to the RU Softball Complex to close out their home schedule against BIG EAST foes Providence (April 19) and Connecticut (April 20).
