Pennington Named Honorable Mention All-America

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Rutgers sophomore Justin Pennington (Flemington, N.J.) was named to the 2008 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America Team, announced at the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championships this past weekend. Pennington was selected as an Honorable Mention member of the team after leading the Scarlet Knights in points and assists in 2008.
Pennington, a first team All-ECAC selection, paced the Scarlet Knights with 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists. The sophomore was also tops on the team and 11th in the country averaging 5.15 groundballs per game. While handling a majority of RU's face-off duties, Pennington won 53.8 percent of his attempts, ranking him 24th in the nation.
Rutgers has placed at least one player on the All-American teams in each of the last three seasons and in five of the last six years. Current Scarlet Knight Chris O'Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) earned honorable mention honors in 2007, while three other RU players gained All-American stature between 2003 and 2006.
