PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team will play its third consecutive road game Saturday afternoon as the Scarlet Knights take on Saint Joseph’s at 1 p.m. at Finnesey Field. Rutgers is 1-1 thus far on its four-game road swing.
Sophomore Kory Kelly (Princeton, N.J.) led RU’s offense in its last outing, a 17-10 loss at nationally-ranked UMBC on Feb. 21. Kelly netted a career-high tying four goals, while senior Jeff Rommel (Syracuse, N.Y.) tallied two goals and dished out two assists for the Scarlet Knights.
Saint Joseph’s (1-2) is coming off a 12-7 home defeat to fellow ECAC member Hobart last Saturday. The Hawks had nine players record a point in the game, but they could not overcome a 5-1 Hobart run in the fourth quarter as the Statesmen pulled away late.
Rutgers is 4-0 all-time against SJU, but the squads have not met since 2004. Three of the four Scarlet Knight victories were in Philadelphia.
Rutgers will wrap up its road trip on Saturday, March 7 with its ECAC opener against Fairfield.
