PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse team will face its toughest test of the season, traveling to No. 1 Northwestern on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights, which are receiving votes in the latest IWLCA poll, will take on the Wildcats at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
Rutgers, which has won two straight games, picked up a 7-6 win over Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday. Sophomore Jennifer Schmitt (Perry Hall, Md.) netted her second hat trick in as many games to lead the Scarlet Knights to the victory over the Hawks. The game was the first of three consecutive road tilts.
Northwestern (7-0) has won 45 consecutive home games, including a 20-6 victory over Hofstra on Thursday. Senior Hannah Nielsen had four goals and three assists, while classmate Hilary Bowen added five scores.
Rutgers is 0-6 all-time against Northwestern, including a 21-4 season-opening loss last season in Piscataway.
