PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Sophomore Katherine Marino (Hillsborough, N.J.) scored the first two goals of her Rutgers career, but it was not enough as the Scarlet Knights fell to No. 6 Georgetown, 9-5, Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field. Senior goalkeeper Sandra Abel (Monrovia, Md.) also played well for RU, posting eight saves.

Juniors Brooke Cantwell (Moorestown, N.J.) and Mary Cryan (Newtown Square, Pa.), as well as sophomore Kristen Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.), each scored one goal apiece. Junior Meghan Flanagan (Medford, N.J.) and senior Michelle Poole (Long Valley, N.J.) tallied assists for the Scarlet Knights, who outshot their opponent 23-18 and grabbed five more groundballs (22-17). For Flanagan, it was her 14th assist of the season, leaving her 14 shy of Nancy Isenberg's all-time single-season record, set in 1980.
Georgetown scored quickly, tallying five of the game's first six goals. RU mounted a comeback to end the first half with two of the stanza's last three goals, and the Hoyas went into halftime with a 7-3 edge.
Rutgers' defense stiffened in the second period and allowed only two scores. Unfortunately, Georgetown held the Scarlet Knights to two goals in the stanza as well, and won the game 9-5.
RU will take to the road for a four-game trip, starting with Louisville on April 3 at 3:00 p.m.
