PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse program was recently recognized for success in the classroom by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). The Scarlet Knights were named to the IWLCA’s list of Division I Academic Squads.
“Academics are No. 1 for this program so I am very proud of this accomplishment,” said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. “The team commits themselves to our academic goals every year. They worked hard for this and they deserve this award.”
Rutgers was one of 49 institutions in Division I to earn Academic Squad honors. In order to qualify, teams must carry a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or greater. The Scarlet Knights were one of five schools in the BIG EAST Conference to be named to the list.
