Rutgers Downed By Temple, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – Rutgers field hockey could not sustain an early lead, falling to Temple 4-3 on Sunday at Buckley Field on the Drexel University campus.
The Scarlet Knights (0-6) went on the scoreboard first when senior midfielder Sarah Dunn (Eaton, N.Y.) found the back of the cage in the 11th minute.
Dunn fed to classmate Jessika Hoh (Allentown, Pa.) eight minutes before the halftime horn to give RU a 2-1 advantage. Hoh, who has now scored in three straight games and in five of six games this season, moved the Scarlet Knights ahead, 3-1 early in the second half.
The Owls would respond with three unanswered goals, including the game-winner from Mandi Ruth with less than two minutes remaining.
Rutgers opens up BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 18 with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Villanova.
