Sep 19 | Field Hockey
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior forward Jessika Hoh (Allentown, Pa.) scored team-best seventh goal of the season but it was not enough as Rutgers field hockey dropped a 6-1 contest to Villanova in the BIG EAST opener for both teams.
The Scarlet Knights (0-7, 0-1) took 21 shots, including eight on goal but could only connect on the lone goal by Hoh in the second half.
The Wildcats (4-2, 1-0) slipped in five unanswered goals in the first 50 minutes. After RU got on the board at the 60:17 mark, VU tallied one more tally nine minutes later for the final score.
Rutgers boasted a 11-6 advantage in penalty corners but could not capitalize on the opportunities.
The Scarlet Knights return home on Sunday, Sept. 20 to face Maine at 12:00 p.m. The Black Bears (6-1) defeated Pacific this afternoon, 7-2, on Rutgers home surface, Bauer Track and Field Complex.
