Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Ranked In IWLCA Top-20 Poll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 4, 2010) – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse team (11-5, 4-4 BIG EAST) has ascended in the national ranking this week, entering the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top-20 Poll at No. 18. The Scarlet Knights were ranked 19th the previous week.
Rutgers closed out the 2010 season with a dominating 21-8 win over Cincinnati. Ten different Scarlet Knights scored a goal against the Bearcats, including a trio with four goals each. Senior attacker Brooke Cantwell (Moorestown, N.J.), senior midfielder Mary Cyran (Newtown Square, Pa.) and junior attacker Katherine Marino (Hillsborough, N.J.) each tallied a game-high four goals, to pace the Rutgers offense.
The Scarlet Knights entered the national rankings for the first time this season on March 8, coming in at 18th in the IWLCA poll and 20th by Insidelacrosse.com (media poll). RU remained listed in the IWLCA poll released on March 15, before falling out of the rankings the following week (March 22). Rutgers returned to the national rankings, entering the IWLCA poll at No. 19 and No. 20 in the media poll on April 26.
