
Rutgers Field Hockey Unveils 2010 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 6, 2010) – The Rutgers field hockey team, under the direction of head couch Liz Tchou, has officially announced its schedule for the fall.
Before opening the regular season, the Scarlet Knights host Delaware in a scrimmage on August 22 at the Bauer Track and Field Complex at 2 p.m.
The season officially commences on August 27 and 29 with a pair of contests in Harrisonburg, Va. RU takes on James Madison University to open the campaign before facing the College of William & Mary on August 29.
The Scarlet Knights return home Labor Day weekend to entertain Ohio University and University of Richmond on Sept 3 and 5, respectively.
BIG EAST competition kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 18 with a home contest versus Syracuse at 1 p.m. The league regular season concludes with a game at Connecticut on Oct. 30.
In total, Rutgers will face members of eight difference conferences this season (A-10, ACC, CAA, Ivy, Pac-10, Patriot, NEC, MAC).
The Scarlet Knights, who represented U.S. Field Hockey at the Junior and Senior National Championships this summer, enjoyed success.
Incoming freshman Gia Nappi (Fairfield, N.J.) and her junior high performance team finished third at the Junior Women’s National Championship. Nappi was selected to attend Junior National Camp based on her performance at the event in Virginia Beach.
Scarlet Knights assistant coach Meredith Long, a member of the New Jersey Senior High Performance team, saw her squad capture the National Championship. They defeated Pennsylvania in the final, 1-0. Over 600 athletes and nearly 40 teams participated in the Championships.
