
Rutgers Field Hockey Dropped by No. 20 American, 3-1

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (September 11, 2010) – The Rutgers field hockey team fell to No. 20 American, 3-1, on Saturday at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland. The contest is the first of two for the Scarlet Knights (1-4) at the Terrapin Invitational.
The Eagles (2-2) scored its first goal off a penalty corner, less than three minutes into the game, from Gina Hoffman. AU added another tally nine minutes later and put a third goal on the board with 13:52 to go in the first half.
The Scarlet Knights registered four shots on the afternoon, three on goal. The lone shot in the second half resulted in a score. SophomoreChelsea Rota (Langhorne, Pa.) scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Cornelia Duffin (Moorestown, N.J.) at the 53:06 mark.
Sophomore Vickie Lavell (Haddon Township, N.J.) and freshman Sarah Stuby (Roxbury, N.J.) split time in goal for Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights take on host No. 2 Maryland on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.
