Question and answer session with Rutgers softball senior Brittney Lindley and newcomer Jackie Bates.
Q: Post college ambition:
A: Lindley: To obtain an enjoyable career in the field of environmental engineering, in order to help make the world a cleaner place.
A: Bates: Animal rehabilitation/readaptation specialist.
Q: Most people don’t know this, but…
A: Lindley: I wish I had time to also play volleyball in college.
A: Bates: I can solve a rubix cube.
Q: My first memory of softball:
A: Lindley: Going to and watching my sister’s pitching clinics – I wanted to participate so bad!
A: Bates: T-ball sitting in the outfield not paying attention at all, picking at the grass.
Q: If I could have dinner with three people, they would be:
A: Lindley: Miranda Lambert, an actual player who was an inspiration for Dottie in the move “A League of Their Own,” and Bill Cosby
A: Bates: Dolley Maddison, Walt Disney, Thomas Jefferson.
Q: One word to describe yourself on the field:
A: Lindley: Competitive
A: Bates: Focused
Q: One word to describe yourself off the field:
A: Lindley: Instigator
A: Bates: Crazy
Q: Best advice you ever received:
A: Lindley: It’s okay to make mistakes during practice. If you were perfect, we wouldn’t be out here practicing.
A: Bates: Keep smiling
