
RU Field Hockey Announces Spring Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 24, 2011) – The Rutgers field hockey team has announced its spring schedule for the 2011 season. The RU spring schedule will feature 12 games against eight opponents.
The Scarlet Knights open their spring when they travel to Monmouth to take on Lehigh, Penn and Quinnipiac on March 27.
RU opens its home spring schedule on April 2 when it welcome Monmouth, Sacred Heart and Temple to the Bauer Track & Field Complex for three round robin 30 minute games. The action gets underway at 11 a.m.
Rutgers will host its annual alumni game on Sunday, April 10, at 11 a.m.
Next on the spring slate, the Scarlet Knights will face BIG EAST rival Villanova in a full scrimmage on April 17 at 11:30 a.m.
Rutgers hosts Rider and Delaware on April 23 to close out the spring season. The teams, which open play at 11 a.m., will play each other twice starting with an 11 v. 11 game with 25 minute halves. Following a short break, the teams will again compete in 7 v. 7 sudden death game simulations.
The 2011 Scarlet Knights will return 18 letterwinners and 10 starters, including their leading goal scorer and point getter, from a squad that advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2003.
