
RU Men's Lacrosse Hosts Georgetown in Saturday Showdown

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 29, 2011) – After falling to BIG EAST rival Villanova in a midweek clash, the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (5-8, 0-4 BIG EAST) will look to return to its winning ways when it welcomes BIG EAST foe Georgetown (5-7, 2-2 BIG EAST) to Yurcak Field for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday, April 30.
For the season, Rutgers has been led offensively by Duncan Clancy (Princeton, N.J.) and Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.). Clancy leads the team with 36 points on 11 goals and a BIG EAST leading 25 assists, while Klimchak is close behind with a team-best 23 goals and 11 assists. RU also gets exceptional play at the faceoff circle from Chris Mattes (Maplewood, N.J.), who leads the nation with a .655 (135-of-206) faceoff percentage.
Defensively, Andrew D’Agostino (Syracuse, N.Y.) paces the Scarlet Knights with 20 caused turnovers and 50 ground balls. The RU defense also receives strong play from senior captain Brian Shemesh (Hillsborough, N.J.), who has 14 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls.
The Hoyas, who lead the all-time series with RU 13-0, are led offensively by Davey Emala and Rickey Mirabito. Emala leads the squad with 37 points on 31 goals and six assists, while Mirabito has 35 points on 13 goals and 22 assists. In the cage for Georgetown, coached by Dave Urick in his 21st season, is senior Jack Davis who has amassed 125 saves on the season and a .504 save percentage.
The game between the Scarlet Knights and Hoyas will wrap up Rutgers Day, a day that begins at 10 a.m. and features events throughout the RU campus including the annual Scarlet-White spring football game.
