Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Announces 2012 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Sept. 21, 2011) – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse program released its 2012 schedule, head coach Laura Brand-Sias announced Wednesday. Rutgers will host eight games this season and face off against three 2010 NCAA Tournament qualifiers.
“As always, we strive to play the best competition in our region,” said Brand-Sias. “That, coupled with a first class BIG EAST schedule, creates exciting potential for the 2012 season.”
The Scarlet Knights open up the year playing host to Temple (Feb. 22) and Cornell (Feb. 25). The next two road tests will be difficult ones, as RU takes on back-to-back 2010 NCAA Tournament participants Princeton (Feb. 29) and Penn (March 7). Rutgers wraps up its road trip with Hofstra on March 10.
Rutgers returns to Piscataway to take on Monmouth March 17 at 1 p.m. The Scarlet Knights welcome Saint Joseph’s on March 21, followed by a trip to Fairfield (March 24) to conclude the nonconference slate.
In the opening BIG EAST weekend, Rutgers welcomes Notre Dame (March 30) and Connecticut (April 1). The Scarlet Knights travel to Villanova April 5, followed by Syracuse on April 7.
The final home weekend for RU will include Louisville (April 13) and Cincinnati (April 15). Rutgers concludes the regular season on the road at 2010 BIG EAST Champion Loyola on April 20 and at Georgetown on April 28.
The BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Tournament will be held at the Carrier Dome on the campus of Syracuse University from May 3-5, 2012.
