Sep 28 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 28, 2011) - Rutgers men's lacrosse will welcome back alumni this Saturday with an action-packed day, including two games, a reception and a meet and greet. Activities will begin at noon and last into the evening.
"Our alumni are a big part of our proud tradition here at Rutgers," said head coach Brian Brecht. "One of the people that has been instrumental in the proud tradition that Rutgers lacrosse has is Doc Peterson. We had a day for Doc last year and this alumni game will be held in his honor each fall. We are excited and looking forward to this event."
The day will begin at noon with a game between the current team and a group of young alumni on the F3 Turf Field located adjacent to the Hale Center. This will be the first opportunity to see the 2011-12 Scarlet Knights in action.
Following the first game, the program will host the Annual Doc Peterson Alumni Game at approximately 2 p.m. Rutgers lacrosse alumni are encouraged to attend and participate.
Dr. Earle Peterson has been a valued friend to the Rutgers lacrosse program for over 40 years as a supporter, fan, contributor and advisor to players and coaches. The alumni game in his honor was started last season.
At the conclusion of the game, alumni are invited for a light reception inside the Visitor's Center with a chance to meet and greet the current Rutgers players and coaches.
In addition, the day will give the Scarlet Knights a chance to prepare for its fall scrimmages against UMass (9:30 a.m.) and Maryland (1:30 p.m.) on Sunday, Oct. 16. Click here to read about the Homecoming events planned for that weekend.
