Rutgers Softball Announces Fall Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 6, 2011) – Rutgers softball will host three one-day round robin tournaments during its fall season, as announced by head coach Jay Nelson on Tuesday. Last season the squad made its second-consecutive trip to the BIG EAST Tournament, marking the first time in 13 years and only the second time in program history that the Scarlet Knights made back-to-back trips.
Rutgers opens its fall schedule at RU Softball Complex on Sunday, September 25. The Scarlet Knights will take on St. Peters at 10:30 a.m. and conclude the afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. matchup with Caldwell College.
RU will travel to Lehigh for its only road trip of the fall season, when it battles the Mountain Hawks on Sunday, October 2. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
Fall ball concludes with a pair of tournaments in Piscataway. Monmouth and St. Josephs (Pa.) will make their way to Rutgers on Oct. 9. The Scarlet Knights will play against MU at 10:30 a.m., followed by SJU at 3:30 p.m.
RU wraps up fall play on Oct. 16 versus Long Island University at 10:30 a.m. and Rider at 3:30 p.m.
