
Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Named 2012 IWLCA Academic Squad

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 21, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse program was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an Academic Squad, it was announced Tuesday. This marks the fourth-straight season that the Scarlet Knights have received the distinction.
Teams qualify for Academic Squad status by maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or greater. The Scarlet Knights were one of four schools in the BIG EAST Conference to be named to the list.
Rutgers also earned a perfect APR score in May and had 16 members selected as BIG EAST Academic All-Stars.
Rutgers finished the season 9-7 overall, including 4-4 in BIG EAST play and had four Scarlet Knights – Rebecca Alley (Tewksbury, N.J.), Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.), Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.), and Ali Steinberg (Suffern, N.Y.) – named to the IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region Team.
