
Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Names Anderson, Kalata Captains

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 21, 2012) - Seniors Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.) and Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.) have been named team captains of the Rutgers women's lacrosse team, head coach Laura Brand-Sias announced Friday. The two leaders were chosen after a team vote.
Anderson, who started all 16 games at midfield last year, was one of the top performers for the Scarlet Knights. The senior paced the team in goals with 41, adding five assists. She excelled in BIG EAST competition sitting first on the team with 27 points on 25 goals and two assists. The Wading River, N.Y., native was named to the IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic and All-BIG EAST Second Teams.
Kalata started all 16 games between the pipes last season for RU. She ranked second in the BIG EAST with a 9.74 goals against average, as well as fourth in ground balls per game (2.44), and fifth in save percentage (.446). During BIG EAST play, Kalata finished first in the league in saves (68) and second in save percentage (.486). The goalie was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team in 2012.
The Scarlet Knights open up fall competition on Saturday, Sept. 22 against Monmouth, Wagner and Lafayette.
