
Rutgers Field Hockey Drops Conference Match to Syracuse, 6-0

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 21, 2012) - In the first game of weekend play at Bauer Track and Field Complex, Rutgers field hockey dropped its second conference match of the season to Syracuse, 6-0.
The Friday afternoon matchup watched the Orange continue their undefeated season, now 8-0 (2-0 BIG EAST), while the Scarlet Knights dropped to 4-5 (0-2 BIG EAST) on the year. Syracuse had a balanced attack throughout the game with five different goal scorers and four different players credited with assists.
Syracuse finished the first half with three goals off nine shots, while RU took just four shots. The conference foes were matched in penalty corner opportunities with three apiece.
The Orange continued to rally in the second half with three more goals to finish the game, 6-0. Syracuse took eight more shots to Rutgers five, and had four penalty corners to RU's two.
The Scarlet Knights will look to rebound on Sunday, Sept. 23, as they take on nonconference opponent Cornell for a 1 p.m. game. The Scarlet Knights last faced the Big Red on Oct. 23, 2011, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for RU.
