PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 26, 2013) - The Rutgers women's lacrosse team (8-2) enters the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Poll at No. 20, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The BIG EAST maintains a conference lead with five schools in the top-20 (Syracuse, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Loyola and Rutgers).
RU is also ranked No. 18 on the Inside Lacrosse Poll.
The Scarlet Knights - winners of seven of their last eight contests - matched their best start in program history by ripping off a 7-1 nonconference record. Last weekend, RU's upset bid of No. 7 Notre Dame fell just short, 9-6, before the squad got back on track with a 9-4 win at Marquette.
Rutgers ranks No. 3 in the nation in scoring defense (6.2 goals per game). Junior midfielder Katrina Martinelli (Moorestown, N.J.) paces the squad with 31 points on 25 goals and six assists.
RU will take the holiday weekend off before returning to action on Friday, April 5 vs. Connecticut. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Yurcak Field.
