
Rutgers Women's Lacrosse Continues Conference Home Slate vs. Villanova

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 11, 2013) - Rutgers women's lacrosse - looking to rebound for its first conference win of the season - hosts Villanova on Saturday, April 13. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start at the RU Turf Field and will be streamed live on RVision, presented by AT&T.
The Scarlet Knights (8-4, 0-3 BIG EAST) are coming off a hard-fought 10-8 loss to No. 5 Syracuse. Despite the defeat, junior midfielder Amanda Trendell (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and junior attack Megan Clements (Pennington, N.J.) notched three points apiece. Redshirt senior Annie McGinley (Moorestown, N.J.) also scored two goals in the contest.
In the cage for RU will be senior Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.), who ranks first in the BIG EAST (with four-plus games) in goals against average (7.09) and third (with four-plus games) in save percentage (.466). The RU defense ranks No. 2 in the country, allowing just 6.67 goals per game.
Rutgers holds a perfect 20-0 all-time series advantage against Villanova. The two teams last met April 5, 2012, as RU took home a 13-5 victory.
Villanova (5-6, 0-3 BIG EAST) enters the contest in hopes of snapping a three game lose streak, the most recent an overtime loss against UConn. Sophomore attack Jessica Mucci leads the Wildcats with 41 points, including 11 goals and 30 assists. Classmate Jackie Froccaro paces the team with 26 goals.
In the net will be senior Amanda Hirschfeld, who holds a 9.81 GAA with 79 saves. Head coach Julie Young is in her second season with Villanova.
