
Katrina Martinelli Named to All-BIG EAST Second Team

Philadelphia, Pa. (May 2, 2013) - Rutgers women's lacrosse midfielder Katrina Martinelli (Moorestown, N.J.) has been selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, the conference announced. Martinelli paced the Scarlet Knights in points (45), goals (35) and assists (10) this season.
This marks the 30th Scarlet Knight to earn All-BIG EAST honors under head coach Laura Brand-Sias.
Coming into the year with just 11 career points, Martinelli matched that number through two games and exploded to rank eighth in the league in goals per game (2.1). She also ranked third in the BIG EAST in free position goals per game (0.76). The junior scooped 18 ground balls and controlled five draws.
Martinelli was twice named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. In conference play, the midfielder led the Scarlet Knights with 15 points on 11 goals and four assists.
