Rutgers Field Hockey Downs Fairfield, 4-1, in Exhibition

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Aug. 24, 2013) - The Rutgers field hockey team defeated Fairfield, 4-1, at the Bauer Track and Field Complex on Saturday in its first scrimmage of 2013.
Freshman back Sofia Walia (Surrey, British Columbia) and classmate forward Rachel Yaney (Bridgewater, N.J.) each recorded goals in the first half. Senior forward Lisa Patrone (Washington Township, N.J.) and junior Sophie Wright (Devizes, United Kingdom) each found the back of the cage for the Scarlet Knights in the second half.
Following another scrimmage against Princeton (Aug. 27), the Scarlet Knights open the regular season vs. Boston College on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. in Burlington, Vt. The first home contest is set for Sept. 6 at 3 p.m., when RU takes on La Salle.
