
Patrone Receives BIG EAST Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete Excellence Award

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 17, 2014) - Former Rutgers field hockey standout Lisa Patrone (Washington Township, N.J.) was tabbed the field hockey recipient of the 2013-14 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award, the conference announced.
The award adds to Patrone's already impressive academic resume, which includes four consecutive selections to the Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Associaiton (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad and an induction into Chi Alpha Sigma - the National College Athlete Honor Society.
On the field Patrone was equally accomplished, twice earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors while serving as an integral part in RU's offense. The forward led the team with five assists in 2013 and 19 points (8g, 3a) in 2012 en route to numerous BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selections.
Patrone wrapped up her collegiate career with an appearance in the 2013 Front Rush/NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Sunday, Nov. 23 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST-sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances and volunteer service to the community. The winners are chosen by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.
