Men's Lacrosse to Play Two Scrimmages this Weekend
Jan 30 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -Rutgers men's lacrosse will play two exhibition games this Saturday as the Scarlet Knights will face Hofstra and Hobart. The games will be hosted by Hofstra at James M. Shuart Stadium. RU will take on Hobart at noon before facing Hofstra at 1:30 p.m.
Due to the weather earlier this week, the scrimmages will be closed to the public. The spectator access and seating areas will not be available to the public due to snow and ice accumulation.
The two scrimmages will be a key part of Rutgers' preparation for the upcoming season. The Scarlet Knights open the 2015 season on Feb. 7 at St. John's.
Rutgers will be led by four captains this season in junior attackman Scott Bieda (Bridgewater, N.J.), senior defenseman Nick Capparelli (Glen Head, N.Y.), senior midfielder Brian Goss (Arlington Heights, Ill.), and senior midfielder Joseph Nardella (Cazenovia, N.Y.). Bieda and Nardella were both Second Team All-BIG EAST selections last season, as the Scarlet Knights posted an 8-8 record.
Hofstra returns 26 players, including five starters, from last year's 11-5 squad that captured the Colonial Athletic Association regular season title. Hobart was 5-10 last season in the NEC.
The Scarlet Knights will have nine home games at High Point Solutions Stadium this season, beginning with the home opener on Feb. 21 against No. 9 Virginia. Season tickets remain on sale through the Rutgers ticket office.
