BLOOMINGTON, IND. - Rutgers field hockey fell in its final Big Ten Conference game of the season, dropping a Friday afternoon game 2-0 at Indiana. The contest was televised on the Big Ten Network, marking the team's second nationally televised game of the season.
The Scarlet Knights record drops to 7-10 (0-8 Big Ten), while the Hoosiers improve to 9-9 (5-3 Big Ten).
The Scarlet Knights held even with the Hoosiers for most of the first half, but IU capitalized on a penalty corner late in the frame. Sydney Supica scored at 30:55 to put IU ahead 1-0.
In the second half, Kate Barber added a goal for Indiana, scoring at 56:46.
Freshman Linde van Schaik led the Scarlet Knights with three shots on goal. Shevaun Hayes made three saves in the game.
Rutgers outshot the Hoosiers 16-10 and had an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Rutgers final game of the season is this Sunday at No. 9 Louisville. Game time is noon.
