EAST LANSING, Mich. (October 4, 2015) - Rutgers field hockey concluded a road trip with a victory, earning a 2-1 win in a neutral site contest against Ohio University. RU got goals from Rachel Yaney and Jade Dixon in the victory. The Scarlet Knights are now 6-5 on the season.

"I thought that the team did a really nice job coming back after a tough loss against Michigan State," head coach Meredith Civico said. "We did well with controlling the play and sticking with our game plan. We controlled the tempo well and managed the game."

In a tightly played contest, Ohio held a 10-6 edge in shots. The two teams each had four shots in the second half, with each squad scoring on their lone shot on goal in the frame.

Yaney got Rutgers on the board early, scoring 16:50 into the game. Yaney finished the goal off a Linde van Schaik assist, putting Rutgers in front 1-0.

That goal held until the final ten minutes of the game, when Rutgers added an insurance tally. Jade Dixon finished a pass from Nicole Imbriaco in front of the net, beating the defense for her second goal of the season and her career.

The Bobcats added a late goal to break up the RU shutout bid. With just over a minute remaining, Adele Sammons scored to cut the Scarlet knights advantage to 2-1. The score would remain there, as Rutgers held on for the victory.

The Scarlet Knights are on the road again next weekend. The play at Ohio State next on Friday at 3:30 p.m., which will be nationally televised by the Big Ten Network.

Game Notes
Rachel Yaney scored her third goal of the weekend, and now has six goals on the season. The six goals is a new career-high.

Jade Dixon
became the eighth player for Rutgers to record multiple goals on the season. Last season, RU had just seven players with multiple goals.

The assist for Imbriaco was her third of the season. Prior to this season, she had never recorded an assist in her first three seasons in a Scarlet Knight uniform.

The win broke a three-game losing streak for RU.
