PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 30, 2015) - Rutgers field hockey freshman midfielder Linde van Schaik continued to receive accolades for her breakthrough debut campaign. She was named Second Team Mid-Atlantic Region with the release of the 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams Monday.
van Schaik earns her second award of the offseason, after previously being named Second Team All-Big Ten. The Amsterdam, Netherlands native started all 18 games in her first collegiate season in the midfield. She totaled seven points on two goals and three assists. van Schaik scored both of her goals in the final five games, tallying against Penn State and in a one-goal victory at American.
"I am very proud of Linde and delighted she has received national recognition during her first year as a Scarlet Knight," head coach Meredith Civico said. "Her performances in the center of midfield have been dominant and I am glad that coaches have seen this and placed her among the nation's elite players."
With the recognition, Rutgers has had a player earn All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. Last season, back Sofia Walia was named First Team All-Region.
