PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers gets set for its first midweek action of the season, looking to rebound from two straight losses when the Scarlet Knights welcome Wagner to High Point Solutions Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will be streamed live by BTN Plus, with Lou Brogno and Rick Mercurio calling the action.
The Scarlet Knights sit at 1-2 after falling short Saturday in an upset bid against No. 6/5 Virginia, dropping the contest 14-5. Scott Bieda had a hat trick in the game for RU, and currently paces the squad with six goals and eight points. The Scarlet Knights have used the same starting lineup in all three games thus far, which features five underclassmen among the 10 starters.
Wagner has played just once this season, a 10-5 loss at Lafayette on February 13. In that opener, Patrick McMenamin scored twice for the Seahawks, while Anothny Peruso made seven saves in net. Wagner welcomes back 21 letterwinners from last seasons' 2-11 squad, including seven starters. In the opener, Wagner started four freshmen and just one senior.
The Scarlet Knights are 6-0 all-time against Wagner. The series has been contested each year since 2009, with Rutgers winning by an average margin of 12.83. Last season Rutgers travelled to Staten Island and picked up a 20-5 victory. Ten different players scored at least one goal, including two goals apiece from Christian Trasolini, Brian Goss, Connor Murphy and Rich Rambo. Joe Nardella was 18-of-21 on faceoffs and Kris Alleyne made 12 saves.
