Field Hockey Hosts Alumni Weekend

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Rutgers field hockey program will host its 2015 Alumni Weekend from April 24-25, welcoming back all RU field hockey alumni to "The Banks".
"The current Rutgers student-athletes and staff are looking forward to hosting our alumni for a great weekend on campus," head coach Meredith Long said. "We are expanding our tradition in the Big Ten and greatly value the continued support of our alumni. It is an exciting time to be a Scarlet Knight and once a Knight always a Knight!"
There will be an alumni tailgate outside High Point Solutions Stadium before the 2015 "Friday Knight Lights" Spring Football game from 5:30pm to 7pm on Friday April 24. The following day, Saturday April 25, the program will host their annual alumni game at noon.
Following the alumni game will be the program's Frenzy Tournament. With a $10 entry fee for each person, this tournament serves both as a fundraiser for the field hockey program and a fun opportunity to reunite old teammates for the annual event. The frenzy will be followed by a group barbeque.
Rutgers had a strong debut in its inaugural season as part of the Big Ten Conference in 2014. The Scarlet Knights won nine games for the third consecutive season, qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament, their first postseason play season 2010. RU was 8-3 at home during the 2014 campaign with victories over Big Ten foes Ohio State and Indiana.
On November 15 the field hockey program celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 1984 team, one of the most successful squads in school history. The 1984 squad went 10-1-1, advancing to the Final Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The team was recognized during the Rutgers football game against Indiana on November 15.
Rutgers field hockey is also proud to be part of the newly formed Varsity R Letterwinners association, Rutgers all sports letterwinner association.
