PISCATAWAY, N.J. --Rutgers freshman attacker Jules Heningburg was named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The Maplewood, N.J. native scored two goals in Rutgers game at Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The Seton Hall Prep product scored on both of his shots on goal and recorded one ground ball. It was Heningburg's fifth multi-goal game of the season, and the third consecutive game that he scored at least two goals.
For the season, Heningburg is third on the team with 23 points, recording 15 goals and eight assists, starting all 12 games. He has scored eight of his goals in the past three games. His four goals in conference play lead the Scarlet Knights.
The honor is the second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award earned by a Rutgers player this season. Previously Chad Toliver earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week on February 16 after scoring his first career goal. The Scarlet Knights have earned four weekly awards from the conference this season, with Joe Nardella twice winning Big Ten Specialist of the Week along with Toliver's recognition.
The Scarlet Knights will host No. 3/3 Maryland in their next game on Sunday night. The game will be televised nationally by the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. Tickets to the game can be purchased here.
