PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers women's lacrosse redshirt senior midfielder Lauren Sbrilli (Martinsville, N.J.) concluded her final season "On the Banks" with Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Mid-Atlantic Second Team honors, the organization announced Monday.
The IWLCA honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2015. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 18. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday June 7, 2015 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
Sbrilli led Rutgers in nearly every offensive category in 2015, including goals, shots and points, and earned the second all-region honor of her career.
"Lauren was a consistent performer for us this season and she never faltered," said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. "Based on her career numbers in our first Big Ten season, she is very deserving of this honor."
Rutgers has boasted at least one IWLCA All-Region player in every season since 2002, which includes all 13 seasons under Brand-Sias' tutelage.
Along with her IWLCA laurels, Sbrilli stood out among her peers during Rutgers' inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference. The midfielder was named to the inaugural Big Ten Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team and was also a 2015 All-Big Ten selection.
Sbrilli ended her final season as a Scarlet Knight by leading Rutgers in goals (36), points (42), shots (95) and shots on goal (72), all of which were career-highs. In all-time program history, Sbrilli closed her career 14th on the points list with 129 "On the Banks," including 112 goals and 17 assists.
As a junior, Sbrilli was also placed on the IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team after leading RU with 30 goals and 37 points. She was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection, as well, during her junior campaign.
