PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers women's lacrosse received public recognition for the fourth consecutive year last week from the NCAA for the program's multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score. The NCAA released Wednesday the 2013-14 NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate Public Report, revealing a flawless score of 1,000 for women's lacrosse in the multi-year and 2013-14 academic year report.
"We continue to be proud of our strong academic tradition," said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. "I'm constantly impressed with the work ethic of our players and staff to maintain our progress in the classroom. This is a true testament to all of their hard work."
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
The perfect APR puts Rutgers women's lacrosse in the top-10 percentile among NCAA Division I schools. RU was one of just 21 programs nationally to score 1,000 in multi-year APR, and was the only Big Ten women's lacrosse member to accomplish that feat.
Women's lacrosse joins Rutgers women's golf as the only two RU programs with perfect multi-year APR scores. Women's lacrosse was one of 10 RU programs overall to boast a perfect 1,000 in the 2013-14 academic year and one of seven women's programs.
Rutgers women's lacrosse earned an APR Public Recognition Award in each of the last four seasons dating back to the 2011-12 academic year. The program has a longstanding history of academic success and has also earned distinction as an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor squad for eight consecutive years.
