PISCATAWAY, N.J. - With the 2015 season underway, ScarletKnights.com will bring you brief Q&As with all seven newcomers of the Rutgers women's soccer team. This installment features freshman back Kenie Wright (Mount Laurel, N.J.), who joined Rutgers this season after winning the 2015 ECNL U17 National Championship with PDA Arsenal over the summer.

Prior to Rutgers: 2015 ECNL U17 National Champion with PDA Arsenal, a top national program … listed on theTopDrawerSoccer.com ECNL National Finals: U17 Best XI following the tournament ... attended ECNL Id2 Training Camp in May 2015 … helped guide the Arsenal to an ECNL Northeast Conference Championship in 2015 and 2014, and a fifth place finish at the ECNL National Championships … the Arsenal took third-place finish at the 2012 ECNL National Championships … an ODP player from 2009-11 ... a two-time captain, four-year letterwinner, and 2011 state champion as a member of the Lenape HS girls soccer team … named the 2013 midfielder of the year … helped guide the team to four South Jersey sectional championships and four coaches tournament championships … a three-time first team all-county selection … named first team all-state twice … an honor roll student throughout high school.
Personal: Daughter of Scott of Kelli … has two siblings, Austin and Sydnie … intends to major in education.
Scarletknights.com: Why did you choose Rutgers?
Kenie Wright: Honestly, it was the team aspect. It's like one big family and I really liked that. Since I'm away from my family this is like my second home now. Everybody wants to win and I like that.
SK.com: What have your impressions been of your first preseason camp?
KW: At first I was really nervous for camp, but when I first came in everyone was so welcoming and so nice. We're having fun but at the same time we're working really hard. It's really good.
SK.com: When did you first start playing soccer?
KW: Probably when I was three. As soon as I could walk, basically. As soon as I started playing I fell in love with it.
SK.com: What is your favorite part about playing soccer?
KW: Just that feeling you get to be with your best friends on the field. You get to achieve something that everyone wants to achieve together.
SK.com: Favorite food, TV show, and music?
KW: Food - Pizza. TV show - I don't really have one. Music - Everything.
SK.com: Are you looking forward to your first year in school?
KW: I think I'm ready. I'm a little bit nervous, but excited.
SK.com: What are your personal goals for the season?
KW: I just want to do whatever it takes to help my team with the Big Ten championship.
