Women's Lacrosse Unveils 2017 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -Rutgers women's lacrosse has finalized its 2017 schedule, as the Scarlet Knights will play seven opponents that qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament, including six- No. 1 Maryland, No. 10 Northwestern, No. 11 Penn State, No. 13 Cornell, No. 14 UPenn, and No. 20 Johns Hopkins - that finished 2016 ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll.
In total, Rutgers' 16-game slate consists of nine games at High Point Solutions Stadium and seven on the road. The program closes the home season with a trio of top-20 matchups against Cornell (April 1) national runner-up Maryland (April 8), and Northwestern (April 22).

The Scarlet Knights return valuable players to their 2017 squad, including junior Amanda Casten and senior Kristina Dunphey, who were named to the 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I All-Mid-Atlantic Team. Casten and Dunphey were also recognized as All-Big Ten players last season.
RU ended 2016 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals against No. 1 Maryland, losing by a 19-9 score to the eventual conference champions. The Scarlet Knights (6-12) won three of their final four games to close the year, including a pair of overtime wins against top-20 Ohio State. The program qualified for a conference tournament semifinal for the second time in three seasons.
