Box Score Nov. 4, 2016

Final Stats

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- The Rutgers women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to Iowa on Friday night at the College Ave Gym. The Hawkeyes (18-7, 8-5 Big Ten) topped the Scarlet Knights (4-22, 0-13 Big Ten) by set scores of 25-8, 25-19 and 25-13.

Four Scarlet Knights added three or more kills in the match, including Jasmine Stackhouse (4), Mikaela Matthews (3), Lauren Cloyd (3) and Brooke Enners (3). Enners' three blocks marked the first of her career.

Meghan Buzziero and Lauren Brobst led Iowa with six kills each. Loxley Keala posted a match-best 32 assists, along with five kills in the win.

After falling in the first set, Rutgers picked up the pace in the second by opening with the lead. A block for the duo of Enners and Matthews kept the RU lead growing to 4-2. Iowa responded by tying up the frame before moving in front, 8-5. A kill for Micaela Anderson stumped the brewing run and kept RU in reach at 9-7. However, the Hawkeyes found a rhythm to distance their edge by as many as nine. The Scarlet Knights regrouped late in the set, as a Cloyd kill ignited an 8-0 run for RU to cut the deficit to 18-16. RU held its energy, but Iowa maintained an edge en route to its second set win of the match.

Despite falling to a four point deficit to start the third, Rutgers found a rhythm to pull within one on a Cloyd kill at 5-4. From there, Iowa regained its momentum to grow its lead to by as many as 10. The Scarlet Knights continued to tack on points, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The Hawkeyes closed the victory with a win in the third set.
