PISCATAWAY, N.J. -For the 2016 campaign, Rutgers has one lone season-long captain in senior attacker Scott Bieda. Each week, the team will choose additional "gameday captains". The selected player(s) will be determined based on their individual efforts in the previous game and all practices. The gameday captains will join Bieda in providing leadership during that game.
For the second game of the season Saturday at Army, the gameday captains are Adam Charalambides, Alex Schoen, Patrick McCabe and Branford Rogers.
Charalambides, a redshirt freshman attacker from Georgetown, Ontario, had a breakthrough performance in his career debut in the season opener. He scored six goals and added an assists, and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Schoen, a sophomore faceoff specialist from Short Hills, N.J., also had a breakout performance in the season opener. Schoen won 21-of-27 faceoffs, including five in a row that sparked a Rutgers 8-0 run, and also added two assists.
McCabe, a junior defender from Kinnelon, N.J., saw action in his second career game on defense in the season opener. McCabe spent three years with the United States Army Rangers before enrolling at Rutgers in 2014.
Rogers, a senior defender from Ruckersville, Va., had four ground balls in the season opener. Alongside Bieda he was one of two seniors in the starting lineup for the game against St. John's.
