PISCATAWAY, N.J. - For the 2016 campaign, Rutgers has one lone season-long captain in senior attacker Scott Bieda. Each week, the team will choose additional "gameday captains". The selected player(s) will be determined based on their individual efforts in the previous game and all practices. The gameday captains will join Bieda in providing leadership during that game.
For the third game of the season Saturday, Rutgers will host Fairfield. The gameday captains are Jules Heningburg, Zack Sikora and Danny Plant.
Heningburg, a sophomore attacker from Maplewood, N.J., had three goals last week in the win at Army. He has started all 17 games in his career with 25 goals and 10 assists.
Sikora, a senior long-stick midfielder from Clifton, Va., is a gameday captain for the second time this season. He had an outstanding overall game at Army picking up ground balls, running in transition, dominating on the defensive side of the field, and adding a goal.
Plant, a senior midfielder from Huntington, N.Y., has not yet seen action this season, but earned the role of gameday captain for his strong work in practice to prepare the team for the game at West Point.
