PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior long-stick midfielder Zack Sikora was added to the official Watch List for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday. Sikora joined fellow senior captain Scott Bieda as a candidate for the award, which is given to the top player in collegiate lacrosse.
"These players have the attention of the top coaches and are added to the mix of those that will be considered for the game's top award," said Jeff Harvey, chairman of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "This is fine recognition for their exceptional play to start the 2016 season."
Sikora, a native of Clifton, Va., was a Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection last season. He was drafted by the Charlotte Hounds in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Draft.
This season, Sikora has scored three goals with one assist, scooped 28 ground balls, and caused four turnovers. In his career thus far, Sikora has played in 45 games, collecting 104 ground balls and causing 22 turnovers. He has also scored 12 goals with six assists.
The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
