Rexrode, Charalambides Win Big Ten Player of the Week Accolades

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - After a convincing 16-3 victory over NJIT on Tuesday night, Rutgers men's lacrosse received two weekly awards from the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. Michael Rexrode was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, while Adam Charalambides earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Rexrode, a Leesburg, Va. native, received his first ever recognition from the Big Ten. The sophomore defenseman had a career-high four caused turnovers and also collected five ground balls as RU held the Highlanders to just three goals. On the season, Rexrode has 19 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. He joins Christian Mazzone, who previously earned the recognition twice, as Rutgers players to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Charalambides continued his stellar freshman campaign with a four-point game (three goals, one assist) in the win over NJIT. It was his fourth game this season with at least three goals, and his fifth game this season with at least four points. The Canadian attackman has won Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times this season.
Rutgers is back in action on Saturday night. The Scarlet Knights will host Delaware at 7 p.m. The game will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
